Able Vac & Brush Chimney Sweep

Able Vac & Brush Chimney Sweep is a family business that has been in the chimney sweep trade since the 1950s. It was founded as Able Vac & Brush in 1981. The current owner is Paul Harrison, and the business is now in its fourth generation of family ownership. It holds HETAS approval, NACS accreditation, and Gas Safe registration, and is fully insured. It provides a 12-month labour guarantee on stove repairs, excluding firebricks.

The business serves Merseyside and Cheshire and has both male and female chimney sweeps on the team. It uses industrial-grade HEPA filtration on every job and provides a recognised certificate of completion for insurance purposes. Services include chimney sweeping, biomass flue cleaning, bird nest removal, chimney cleaning, chimney inspection, log burner cleaning, and stove repair.

Households with wood burners and open fires have called on this chimney sweep repeatedly, and the feedback reflects long-standing relationships rather than single visits. More than one customer describes using the firm for periods stretching from four to ten years, returning for annual sweeps and stove servicing. Recurring praise centres on thorough flue cleaning, the removal of old stoves and fitting of replacements, renewal of fire bricks and door seals, and a standard of tidiness that leaves rooms free of soot.

Named staff members Paul and Rachael are singled out for being friendly, knowledgeable and punctual, with reviewers repeatedly mentioning that they turn up when arranged and set out clearly what preparation is needed beforehand. Communication is a point that comes up often, particularly the email reminders that prompt customers when an annual service falls due.

Customers characterise the pricing as reasonable and fair, and note that guidance on using a stove is offered alongside the practical work. A blend of traditional service and modern sweeping techniques is mentioned, as is the speed of response when a booking was needed at short notice. Stove maintenance and chimney sweeping remain the services most often highlighted, with fire care advice carried forward by customers.
