Smokeless Sweeps

Smokeless Sweeps is a chimney sweeping business run by the father and son team of Richard and Cameron Cairns. It is a fully certified member of the Guild of Master Sweeps. Based in Grazeley near Reading, the company covers South Berkshire, Hampshire and surrounding areas. It is fully insured with NFU, holding public liability insurance up to £2.5 million and professional indemnity insurance.

The company uses modern power sweeping equipment to clean all types of flue, from open fireplaces to multi-fuel stoves, boilers and Aga chimneys. Onboard CCTV equipment is available to carry out safety and maintenance checks on flues if required. Other services include bird nest removal, stove servicing, and chimney cowls. A certificate is issued with every job.

Householders across the Reading area who have booked chimney sweeps and log burner servicing describe a consistently meticulous service, with Richard named again and again as the person carrying out the work. Customers repeatedly mention that he arrives fully prepared, protects the surrounding areas before starting and leaves rooms free of soot, with one account of a particularly challenging sweep involving a large birds' nest handled thoroughly and the space left spotless. Punctuality and communication come up often, including reminder messages sent ahead of appointments and clear explanations given before and after the job.

Several reviewers highlight the practical advice offered on maintenance, safety and future work such as stove installations, and a cowl that was arranged and fitted shortly after a sweep is cited as an example of problems being dealt with promptly. The pricing for both sweeping and additional work is described as fair and transparent. Customers also note that log burners are left looking new, with glass and casing cleaned as part of the visit. Many say they have already booked their next annual sweep, and long-standing clients speak of chimneys being looked after over several years with the same friendly, knowledgeable approach.
