I'm in the process of purchasing a home and wanted to follow up on items identified by the RICS survey with having an experienced roofer look at the home so that we could promptly get to work on identified items after the sale is completed. Sent both a direct email enquiry and a submission via their website online over a week ago and have heard absolutely nothing. Zip. Zilch. Nada. Not even a generic "We've received your email" autoresponse (which I double checked my spam folder just to make sure things weren't being lost there.) No response or communication whatsoever even to say "Sorry, we don't do pre-purchase inspections" or that they don't work in my particular area or may have been unavailable for the foreseable future. All completely understandable reasons and nothing I would ever fault a contractor for. But the complete radio silence for a prospective client is baffling. Yes, I suppose I could make a THIRD enquiry and call them on the phone but, as a Millennial, that will never be my preference for communication. And, frankly, if they're not going to even give a cursory response to two separate online enquiries, what confidence do I have that if I did hire them as contractors that I wouldn't need to constantly be on the phone with them chasing down information? (Edit to respond to response) My condolences for your loss and I wish you peace and healing. I know work is the last thing on your mind when going through something like this so I do encourage you that when life gets settled again to seriously consider at least setting up autoresponse for your email box and webpage. These messages can be edited fairly quickly when something unexpected occurs to let prospective clients know that there may be a delay before they can expect a response.

Having spoken to several builders, we were fortunate to find William and his team at K&C Roofing. William came out immediately to assess our flat roof, and provided a detailed estimate within a few hours. We've dealt with several roofers over the last year, with various issues, and none demonstrated anywhere near the same level of professionalism. They weren't be the cheapest quote, but you get what you pay for, and in terms of roofing, scrimping can be costly down the road. The team sent out to do the work were equally professional and, having inspected the work several times a day, it was very clear that they took immense pride in their work. Having quoted, I had a barrage of questions about the scope of the work and the materials being used, and the response was always swift and clear. Indeed, they did such a good job that our neighbour appointed them to work on his roof too. Appointing a roofer can be a bit daunting to someone not in the trade, particularly for a full flat roof replacement, but I wouldn't hesitate to use K&C Roofing again, although I hope that's not necessary. Their work is also backed by a long-term guarantee, including an insurance backed guarantee, if required. I would thoroughly recommend.
