Nowadays when we have perhaps become a little wary of tradespeople, how refreshing to find a young man who conducts his business with integrity. I believe Mark from Strathclyde Roofing is such a person. Mark came out to survey our roof with a drone when we wanted to ensure there weren’t any problems before embarking on masonry work. Mark is polite, personable and obviously skilled at his trade. We were expecting the worst as the roof is very old but Mark informed us that apart from a few misplaced slates there wasn’t much wrong with the roof and to save ourselves the cost of paying for scaffolding, labour etc! He showed me photos taken from the drone and spent time explaining the results at no cost or benefit to his business. I would have no hesitation in using the services of Strathclyde Roofing for any future work required on our roof.

Our roof was a particularly awkward job for the team. But from the outset with Mark being the first contact to Gavin assessing the work to be done to Richard, Darren and the boys carrying out the work, the job was completed on time, and with no mess. Over the years we have used several roofing contractors, with varying degrees of success, to replace slates when needed and to try to fix leaks in the flat roof section above a bedroom bay window. We recently decided that it was time once and for all to eliminate these problems by replacing the entire roof. The work was also to include replacing the fascia, soffits, guttering and downpipes. The first step involved obtaining some quotations for the labour and materials and an estimate of the time required to complete the job given that the work would be carried out in late March into April when the weather can be unpredictable. We obtained several quotes which varied in cost, start date, completion time and the level of detail included in the actual quotation. Of the contractors who submitted a quote we chose Strathclyde Domestic Roofing based on the competitive and transparent nature of their detailed quote and the comprehensive survey carried out by Mark. He was the only surveyor to check the condition of rafters, etc in our attic and from his drone aerial roof inspection it confirmed what we had suspected for some time that the chimneys were in very poor condition and needed to be removed. Communication throughout the project was excellent - Mark, and Gavin kept us updated on progress and quickly answered any queries we had. Furthermore, and importantly, there were no hidden extras or additional charges and the work was completed within the quoted timeframe. The workmanship by the slaters Alan and Andy was at the highest level, showing excellent attention to detail. Also, everything was left clean and tidy on completion. We would highly recommend Strathclyde Domestic Roofing as we found them to be very professional delivering an outstanding level of service from the initial survey through to completion. Really please with the service provided by Gavin and his team at Strathclyde Domestic Roofing. They’ve been very professional with their communication, quick to respond to calls and emails and they were out today, within a week of me accepting the quote- which was also reasonably priced. Gavin sent me photos after the repairs were done which reassuring. Having struggled to get any roofers in Inverclyde, I’m delighted and would definitely recommend them.

Strathclyde Domestic roofing replaced our rather complicated slated roof in its entirety, four high chimneys were also removed. The quote process with Mark was straightforward and transparent. Work was done over winter months and indeed during that time there was a period of fairly stormy weather but the project progressed fantastically despite all this and the Slater’s on the job were so professional. All the various aspects ran very smoothly and were managed on a day-to-day basis by Gavin with information being passed continually to us. The scaffolding company works and the delivery of all the materials was absolutely timed perfectly.
