Soot Happens

I had a jackdaws nest in my chimney and contacted Richard to have a look. He came a couple of times to check the chicks had left the nest and came yesterday to clear it and place a cowl on top. Richards communication was excellent. He turned up when he said he would, cleared the nest efficiently and with absolutely no mess. I would definitely recommend Soot Happens to anyone who needs a chimney sweep.

I am extremely pleased with the service provided by Richard. He arrived promptly and carried out the chimney sweep and wood burner cleaning in a highly professional and thorough manner. His work was meticulous, well organised, and he left everything clean and tidy upon completion. I would have no hesitation in recommending Richard’s services to others. Second time I have booked Richard, arranged for him to come and clean my other chimney. He is very professional, clean, tidy and knowledgeable. He has invested in his kit and has a camera which enables you to see the inside of your chimney all the way up to the pot, and also a drone to see the stack and pot from the outside. These have been such wonderful additions as they highlighted my otherchimney stack and pot being in a bad state of disrepair on my house renovation, so I was able to book a builder to fix this, and on the 2nd visit he immediately found approx 5-6 bricks in the bottom of my chimney, when the camera went up he found the mid feathers have gone and it is open to both pots at the top. Thankfully no impact to me as I’m having a chimney liner and wood stove installed. Richard also has provided guidance and help for which wood burning stoves to look at, what I would need, and advice for when the stove installer comes. Highly recommend Soot Happens for all your chimney clean needs, A star!

Excellent. Richard is methodical and thorough, picks up things other sweeps have missed and also gave advice which saved me money. Swept woodburner flue, fitted access hatch for sweeping (not provided or mentioned by installer, HETAS certifier or previous sweep) then attended to break open and sweep two chimney breasts which had been blocked up and were full of soil (!!!!) and soot, birds nests etc. Gave me advice about water ingress, ventilating unused chimneys and provided two more suutable pots. Great guy, personable and good service. Pleasure to recommend.

Excellent chimney sweep and fixed my log burner door. Rich fit us in quickly and did a fantastic job, no mess no fuss. I feel much safer using our log burner now knowing it’s been fixed, swept and checked. I would highly recommend Soot Happens.

Contacted Richard in need of a chimney sweep. Very clean, very time efficient and a top bloke. Tests were conducted on the stove to ensure no leaks were present, as well as having the CO detector checked. A hetas certificate was provided following completion. Can highly recommend and will be using for all works going forward.
